LoveLine, Inc. operates the LoveLinemobile application available on Apple's App Store and our marketing website at loveline.app. LoveLine is a dating application designed to help adults form meaningful romantic connections. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information.

02. Data We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, data generated by your use of the Service, and — in limited circumstances — information from third parties.
A. Information You Provide
- Account registration: name, email address, date of birth, and password (stored as a secure hash).
- Profile information: photos, display name, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship preferences, biography, and answers to personality prompts.
- Communications: messages you send and receive through the in-app chat feature.
- Payment information: billing name and payment method details processed securely by Stripe. We never store raw card numbers.
- Support communications: any information you share when contacting our support team.
B. Information We Collect Automatically
- Approximate location: city- or neighbourhood-level distance, derived from your device's GPS only while the app is in the foreground. We do not store precise coordinates.
- Device and log data: IP address, device model, operating system version, app version, time zone, and crash logs.
- Usage data: features you interact with, pages you view, and actions you take within the app, collected in anonymised or pseudonymised form.
- Cookies: session tokens and preference cookies on our website. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
C. Sensitive Information
Certain profile fields — including gender identity, sexual orientation, and relationship preferences — may constitute sensitive personal data under applicable law. You provide this information voluntarily. It is encrypted at rest, never sold, and never shared with third-party advertisers or data brokers. We process this data solely to provide and improve our matching Service.
D. Information From Third Parties
If you choose to sign in via Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from those providers. We do not receive any other information without your explicit consent.
03. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and deliver the core matching service.
- Personalise your experience and improve match quality based on your profile and stated preferences.
- Enable in-app messaging between users who have mutually matched.
- Process subscription payments and manage billing history.
- Send you account-related notifications (match alerts, new messages, security alerts) and — with your consent — promotional communications you can opt out of at any time.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety violations.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from authorities, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Analyse aggregated, anonymised usage patterns to improve product features and reliability.
We do not use your data to serve you third-party advertisements, and we never engage in cross-app tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
04. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with equivalent data protection law, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:
- Performance of a contract — processing necessary to provide you with the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, security, abuse detection, product analytics, and service improvement, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent — processing of sensitive profile data; sending marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — retaining payment records as required by financial regulations.
For users in California (CCPA/CPRA) and other US states with applicable privacy laws, we do not "sell" or "share" your personal information as those terms are defined by applicable law.
05. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

All service providers are contractually bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for any purpose beyond the service they provide to us.
Other Disclosure Circumstances
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to comply with a lawful government request.
- Safety and fraud prevention: we may share data with law enforcement when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or investigate illegal activity.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you and provide choices where required by law.
- With your consent: we will share data with any third party if you have given us explicit permission to do so.
06. International Data Transfers
LoveLine, Inc. is incorporated in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

07. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service or meet a legal obligation.

08. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honour all of them regardless of your location.
- Right to access: request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to erasure: request deletion of your account and all associated personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Right to restrict processing: ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.
- Right to opt out of sale/sharing (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal data as defined by California law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@loveline.app or use Settings → Privacy. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe we have not adequately addressed your rights, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
09. Children's Privacy
LoveLine is strictly for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. Our registration flow requires users to confirm their date of birth, and accounts belonging to users found to be under 18 are terminated immediately upon discovery.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at privacy@loveline.app and we will delete that information promptly.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from such individuals in compliance with COPPA and equivalent laws.
10. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. These include:
- Encryption of all data in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256.
- End-to-end encryption for in-app messages, ensuring only you and your match can read them.
- Role-based access controls limiting employee access to those with a legitimate need.
- Regular security reviews and penetration testing by qualified third parties.
- Monitoring for anomalous access patterns and security events.
Despite these measures, no system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of a security vulnerability or believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@loveline.app.
11. Third-Party Links & Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services not operated by us. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.
If you sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, your use of those services is governed by Apple's or Google's respective privacy policies, in addition to this policy.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy at this URL, sending a push notification or in-app alert, and — for significant changes — emailing you.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and delete your account.

Apple App Store — Privacy Details
In compliance with Apple App Store requirements, the data types, purposes, and linkage information declared in our App Store privacy nutrition label are consistent with this Privacy Policy. We do not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes, and we do not share data with data brokers.
